President's Report

This week members tried out a new meeting venue: the Fresh Prince Cafe at 192 Bellair Street Kensington.  Marina the owner was very welcoming and all in attendance enjoyed breakfast.  We will be meeting there until further notice, 7.00 for a 7.15am start.

This week there was a surprise cake for Sergeant Josie who is celebrating a special birthday next week.  Happy Birthday Josie!

President Anne and husband John also attended the charter of the new Rotary Club of Eynesbury last Sunday.  She joined the District leadership team and Rotarians from across Melbourne in welcoming the new Rotarians and celebrating a new club.

Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds
Peter Cribb  and Shraddha Sharma were joined by Sam Nicol last Saturday at the container 1 packing day for Nepal. They had 6 volunteers from the Non- Resident Nepalese association (NRNA) and the Rotary Passport Club of Melbourne, co-ordinated by Madhuri Maskey along with Bob Allardice and Kit Holland.

It was a big job and even with 11 of us on the day, we couldn't complete everything, fitting all 5 playgrounds in 20 foot was looking challenging.

Sam and Shradd returned on Sunday and with Sam's expertise we managed to repack the container more tightly, squeezing more into the first container.
We are confident that we can pack 4 more playgrounds in the 2nd container. The preference is to send the containers together so that the collection and distribution from port in Kolkatta and onwards is seamless.

Due to the explosion in playgrounds offered and the lack of
person power in Flemington Kensington, we have decided to
relinquish control of RORP Central to the Rotary Club of
Nunawading, and the expertise of Bob Allardice.
Of course the existing team will make the transfer as painless as possible and our team will be on hand for advise and support.
Sincere thanks to Peter Cribb, Lyn Borghouts, Sam Nicol, Shraddha Sharma and everyone who has assisted in any way throughout Stage #1 of the journey.

A celebration dinner and get together will be held on  Tuesday 6th April.  6:30 at the Anglers Tavern in Maribyrnong Road.  ALL WELCOME.
RSVP to Peter at ptcribb@gmail.com

Peter and Bev Cribb send greetings from Strathan on the Tassie West Coast.  They are enjoying a 2 week tour with the baby {MG} and sent this picture to show the scenery.  Just making us jealous!

Rotary Centenary in Australia
In 2021, Rotary celebrates a centenary or service in Australia. To mark this incredible milestone, the Royal Australian Mint has produced this stunning coloured uncirculated coin. Australia’s over 1100 clubs and more than 30,000 members are proudly making an impact locally and globally with their dedication to community service. This coin honours the hard work of Australia’s Rotarians who organise a range of community programs including overseas youth exchanges, life changing surgery and fundraising for bushfire survivors.
