President Anne

FUN meetings.
I have been busy making (very appropriate face masks) prizes for our meetings. Thank goodness for Zoom, so we can all stay connected. Lyn is the game person, & Betty is in charge of the spinning wheel at each meeting. Each winner will be posted a prize.

One of the benefits of living in restrictions, is that you can attend a lot of other Rotary meetings, without leaving the comfort of your home via Zoom. This is a great way to connect with others learn & enjoy from their guest speakers.

 WERN
I am looking forward to getting back to WERN.  Prahran Rotary club is looking for a Central Emergency Relief Network location. At the moment Rotary has Western & Eastern.  If anyone knows of a cheap or very reasonably priced, warehouse Central to Melbourne. please let Susie Cole at the Prahran club know.

RORP
Once we are out of stage 4 Covid restrictions, RORP will be ready to go full steam ahead, shipping recycled playgrounds overseas.  Many thanks to Peter Cribb, Lyn Borghouts, Shradd Sharma, for their ongoing passion & energy for this outstanding project.

Op Shops
Glenroy Op Shop has offered us the contents of their shop as they are closing (due to their land being required by the railways). We are busy preparing space at Flemington. It will be mid-September at the earliest when we re-open for business.  With all the new OH&S rules, many thanks to Jon Temby, for all his work updating the operations manual for the Fit for use store in Werribee & our Flemington Op shop.

I have been busy online, trying to sell a few things for fund raising.  We sold 40 chairs for $6 @. We still have 111 left, if any knows of a church, a function centre, or you would like some for your home please let Sam, Edith, or I know.

The Rotary 100 year Baton arrived yesterday, (please google about the Baton). We could do a run/walk for a Fundraiser with it perhaps around Albert Park lake, for ending POLIO.

District have planned a Walk for Polio during the month of October honouring the life and legacy of PRIP Sir Clem Renouf.

Congratulations Len Seddon
Len celebrated his 30th anniversary as a Rotarian this week.  He has been a staunch and active member and is thanked for his efforts over the years.
Matiu Bush presented a very informative report on his recent work in COVID Quarantine at this week's meeting.

We heard from Eleanor at Gregory Lodge this week.  They have had a difficult time and sadly have lost 2 residents to COVID.  Fortunately they are now clear and are awaiting some relaxation so residents can receive visitors again.  Our thoughts are with Eleanor, staff and residents and we look forward to visiting again soon.
