As members will now know, Lorry Rowe, our Fit4 Use Store Manager is retiring and moving to Queensland closer to family. The Rotary Club of Werribee have agreed to take on the management of the store as from 1 July.

In recognition of Lorry's service, an afternoon tea will be held at the store on Saturday 21st May at 2pm.  Please make a note in your diaries and make an effort to attend.

The Club President's Changeover has been set for Friday 24 June at the Mercure Hotel in North Melbourne.   Please diarise this event now and be ready to share the evening with Shraddha and I.

The Mental Health forum is set for Wednesday 18 May at Kensington Town Hall. This event replaces our usual evening meeting.

This week, I have also delivered another 150 picture story books to the Maternal & Child nurses at Wingate Avenue, and 25 handbags to Jenny at Danny Pearson's office for the "It's in the Bag"project.

Breakfast at Mama Bear 4 May
We enjoyed a very informative meeting today with a welcome visit from Cr Katrina Hodgson.  Katrina was updated on our activities including RORP, RIMERN and the forthcoming mental health forum.  She also promised to follow up on our request for a meeting with council regarding a major financial donation to infrastructure,

We also heard from Peter Cribb on the recent get together with the multi district RORP team and PDG Senake Ameresinghe.

Lesley updated us on the mental health forum and asked everyone to share the information..

Let's Talk About Mental Health
This forum is now finalised and promises to be an invaluable event helping to make sense of the mental health puzzle.  The focus is on teenagers and young people and their families and will provide an insight and some understanding into anxiety and depression; 2 areas of mental health which seems to be the new pandemic facing us today.

We are fortunate to have a lineup of amazing and expert speakers to help us including the engaging Maria Ruberto - an old friend from my days as a Principal who can give us some relevant information and history.  We will also be joined by our club's ARH PhD scholar Catherine Johnson,  Dr Parisa Shiran who focuses on women's and migrant health and Fatima, a young woman who will speak on lived experience!

Kensington Town Hall Wednesday 18 May starting at 7pm.
Members will be needed to help setup from 6pm and to assist during the evening.  Please let Lesley know your availability.

Multi district RORP update
A large number of people from Districts 9790, 9800 and 9810 joined with PDG Senake Ameresinghe from Rotary Columbo on 4 May.

We heard an update on the situation in Sri Lanka, and the effects of COVID and the serious economic and political situation.

Senake shared the process and logistics of transport from the docks to thew final destinations.    He also shared with us the time required to transport a playground 200km which could be 8 hours!
