President's Report

Thank you to all our members, friends, supporters and volunteers who assisted in making this Art Show so very special.  After the COVID year everyone was ready for an opportunity to celebrate, communicate and enjoy each other's company again.

Despite some hiccups in the leading weeks, the show itself was a great success as shown by the many positive comments and feedback we received.

The Art Show would not have been the wonderful event it was without the dedicated Art Show Committee: John Elston, Betty Kitchener, Anne McMahon, Edith Chen, Sandy Belcher and our intern Ellen O'Shaughnessy.

We were delighted to welcome Councillors Rohan Leppert and Davyyd Griffiths from the City of Melbourne and Councillor Rose Iser from Moonee Valley Council to the Gala opening night.

Also, we continue to upload material to our Gallery247 site including some podcasts with our artists.

At this week's meeting we will hear from local historian Sheila Byard on her research into Flemington Kensington.  She hopes to share memories and stories with our members Ted Frank, Geoff Cawsey and Len Seddon.
Fresh Prince Cafe, 192 Bellair Street Kensington at 7.15am.

Apologies to those I have missed!!
Without the financial support of our generous sponsors the show would not have been the success it was.  We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of the City of Melbourne, Bendigo Bank Ascot Vale, Nelson Alexander, Kensington Business Network, Hardimans Hotel, White Gum Potters and Flemington Traders.
It's time to celebrate all the hard work and get together with all those who have been part of RORP #1.

The Rotary Club of Yarraville will hold a special theatre evening at The Sun Theatre,
Date:  Wednesday 28 April 2021
Movie:  The Father
Based on the acclaimed, award-winning play, The Father starts out as a deceptively simple drama hinged on a deceptively familiar dynamic. Anne (Olivia Colman) is losing patience with her 80-year-old father, Anthony (Anthony Hopkins), whose grip on reality is fading but who refuses to allow a carer to look after him. She’s moving to Paris and needs to ensure his safety while she is away so before she leaves she must find someone who will endure him. For Anthony, life has become a source of ever-disorienting confusion and in a masterful stroke, the writer-director Florian Zeller (who created the original stage production) tells the story from his eyes as characters and locations shift and we become as muddled as he.
Session Time:  6.30pm
Cost: $20.00 pp (includes a bag of sweets)
Members and guests are also invited to D'Asporto restaurant in Yarraville at 5 pm for a light dinner before the movie.
Rotary Centenary in Australia
In 2021, Rotary celebrates a centenary or service in Australia. To mark this incredible milestone, the Royal Australian Mint has produced this stunning coloured uncirculated coin. Australia’s over 1100 clubs and more than 30,000 members are proudly making an impact locally and globally with their dedication to community service. This coin honours the hard work of Australia’s Rotarians who organise a range of community programs including overseas youth exchanges, life changing surgery and fundraising for bushfire survivors.
