President Anne

Spring has arrived!

Congratulations, to all the Dads, & Grandads!

Whoever would have thought that for some people, Father’s Day would be having no children or Grandchildren physically present and meeting on a video call or zoom, and eating UBER EATS in 2020.

And whoever would have thought that in 2020, our AFL Grand Final is to held at Queensland’s GABBA.

At this week's meeting, Moonee Valley Councillors Jim Cusack and Nicole Marshall were guest speakers. They have been working close to the community to develop a concept design for the new Flemington Hub. The design is continuing to be refined ahead of construction which is scheduled to commence in 2021. To stay up to date with the Project, head to mvcc.vic.gov.au/Flemington.  Please check out this wonderful link for an excellent video of the proposed centre.https://mvcc.vic.gov.au/my-council/major-developments/flemington-community/

We are all keen for stage 4 COVID restrictions to be lifted, especially for our Op Shops. It will be so good to open the doors to the customers, stock is bursting at the seams.  How wonderful for our club, to have the shops as revenue, a lot of Rotary clubs are struggling as there are no BBQ fundraisers in the foreseeable future..

Edith & I are also working on the Kensington Network Committee where we deal with local food security, health & wellbeing & computer support etc.

With the COVID pandemic, it has really bought home to us the importance of this Network.  This group has been significant in keeping COVID out of the Kensington Towers. The group had all the COVID health literature translated into the various languages required, and delivered to the people living in the Kensington Towers and beyond.  The group has been extremely proactive, with community leaders on the ground assisting families. After the lock down of the Flemington Towers, education, support  and cleaning was increased even further.

The COVID numbers are down to 28 today.  Hooray the light is at the end of the tunnel. Hope everyone is staying safe & well.

Flemington Kensington Rotary has achieved the Rotary International President's Citation - Gold for 2019-2020.  Congratulations everyone for your efforts and commitment to Rotary Connecting the World.

Congratulations to Tamsin and Salma who have been successful in their application and interview for NYSF 2021.  They attended ZOOM interviews and will have a very different NYSF experience than previously.
