It is with much sadness that District Governor Grant Hocking reports that PRIP Sir Clem Renouf passed away last week.
As a founding member and charter secretary of the Rotary Club of Nambour, Queensland, Sir Clem became District Governor in 1965-66, and President of Rotary International in 1978-1979.
Sir Clem was a giant in Rotary history as the instigator of the 3-H program that led to the polio eradication effort. We know him as the person who started the goal of Polio Eradication. Sir Clem made a difference and changed lives now and into the future, contributing through his initiative, passion and dedication to saving the lives of 100,000s of children worldwide. https://www.rghfhome.org/first100/presidents/1978renouf/index.htm
At our last Board Meeting, donations were approved for this Rotary year to Donations in Kind, the Rotary Foundation and Australian Rotary Health. We also voted to continue our membership of both Donations in Kind and the Western Emergency Relief Network. Both these organisations support us and we are often able to distribute items unable to be accommodated in our Op Shops to them.
The Board also approved the application for membership by Betty Kitchener OAM. Betty has been a regular visitor to our cub living locally. She was also a significant contributor to the Art Show in 2019 with her husband Tony. Welcome Betty!
A new logo in keeping with the Rotary Branding guidelines has been developed, and a Partner Logo prepared for our major supporters to display on their websites and documentation.
We welcome Shradd Sharma as the Operations Manager supporting Peter Cribb, and we welcome Bob and Gabby from RC Nunawading.
Please remember to support Matiu and Anne M with our Story Tree project. Collect a leaf from the Op Shop or download your own leaf shape online. Complete the sentence starters and then email or deliver your thoughts to either Sam at the Op Shop orone of our "Annes"

Anne Heyes, Lesley McCarthy and Jon Temby are working
with Moonee Valley Council to develop a project for this celebration. The aim is to plant 100 trees along the banks of the Maribyrnong River from Riverside Golf Club to the bridge. A solid bench/seat of some type will be included with Rotary signage.
Millie Bourke, one of the Conservation Programs Officers met with
them last week to finalise details. At this stage, late April is the targetted time.
There are a number of inspirational events
planned and I encourage everyone to enrol for
those which appeal.
The Rotary International Convention to be held
"virtually" for the very first time w8ll be an
amazing experience.
For those who never attended an international
convention, the speakers are outstanding, the learning opportunities amazing and the opportunity to network with Rotarians everywhere just superb. I, personally, am very disappointed to miss Hawaii which was to have been held earlier this month. It is free to join.
Rotary International Virtual Convention 20th to 26th June
Thought for the week: “it is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able best to adapt and adjust to the
changing environment in which it finds itself.” Charles Darwin
